Hopped in the ground blind on a late afternoon hunt with my little girl. Started slow, listening to my little chomp on pretzels and chip back crunching didn’t think I’d see a thing. Out of nowhere 2 does run out of hedge row 350 yes away I knew they were being chased by the way the stopped in middle of field and looked back. Then over the hillside I could see only antlers, I knew it was a shooter so I told my little girl to be still and quiet as I knew the buck would trail the does and eventually top the hillside the same way the girls went. I got my tripod ready and gun waiting and sure enough he came out where expected… the browning 3006 made a clean shot 250 yds away and the buck kicked and ran into wood line. My daughter and I waited and the went to look for blood. Bright red shined on the cut soybean field and we followed the trail and there he laid 15 yards into woods tangled up in an old fallen cedar tree!
