8-point buck weighed 190 pounds
Frank Townsend of Aiken, SC arrowed an 8-point buck in his home county on Aug. 23, 2024 during an evening hunt from his tree stand. The deer weighed 190 pounds.
Townsend was aware of the buck’s presence in the area leading up to the hunt, thanks to his trail camera, which had captured photos of the deer.
He thanked unseasonably cool weather for getting the deer in range during daylight hours.
“Cooler temperatures had a group of bucks move in earlier than normal,” he said.
He shot the buck from 18 yards away, then tracked it about 60 yards.
