My son Chance has been patiently waiting to shoot his first deer. When he turned 6 we decided it was time. We got in the stand and within 30 minutes he we had 3 bucks and 5 does in the field. We had practiced how he would line it up and shown him where to place the shot. He crawled up in my lap, found the biggest of 3 in the crosshairs. I told him to count to 3 and take a deep breath and pull the trigger. He silently said 1….2….3…. BOOM! Dropped the 8 point right in his tracks and we both went crazy! First deer at 6, never shot a rifle before and really wasn’t even nervous. First hunt with my son and now he’s hooked!
