Allendale County beast green-scored 143 inches

Josh Wall of Fairfax, SC killed an Allendale County beast of a buck on Oct. 11, 2022, putting an end to a 3-year chase. The buck has been green-scored at 143 inches.

Wall’s first encounter was in September 2020. It was a nice deer, but Wall could tell it still had potential to grow. He estimated the buck at about 3 1/2-years-old at the time.

“He got a free pass from me that year,” said Wall.

Then, in September of 2021, the buck showed up on his hunting property again. And it was bigger than the year before

“Last September, he decided to move back on the property. He had grown substantially as a 4 1/2-year-old,” he said.

During the 2021 season, Wall’s son had a close call with the buck, missing a shot at it in October.

When the 2022 season came in, Wall wasn’t getting any photos of the deer. He wasn’t sure if he’d ever see it again.

“September 2022 rolled around and I had no sightings or pictures of the buck. I was thinking he’d possibly been shot or had moved to another property,” he said.

The only day Wall saw him this season was on Oct. 11.

“On Oct. 11, he decided to make his final appearance. He stepped out at exactly 300 yards. Needless to say, that was the end of a 3-year saga.
