My son loves to hunt just as much as me. I knew the deer would be moving on the backside of the cool front that had moved through. When he got home from school I told him to hurry and get his clothes on so we could get to the woods. We decided to sit a stand that had not been hunted much this season and had not had much pressure. We got to the property about 4:30 and on the way to the stand we jumped the buck in a cotton field. We were hunting thinned pines on the back side of the cotton field and I seen the buck run in and lay down. I told Corbin we had we needed to be very quiet and slip into the stand and there was a good chance the buck would come out. Once in the stand and situated I hit the grunt call a few times and within 10 minutes the buck stepped out at about 40 yards, Corbin got on my lap and steadied his aim and squeezed the trigger making a great shot and anchoring the buck in his tracks with his youth model Savage Axis 6.5 Creedmore. I am not sure who was more excited me or him. We had several pictures of this buck on trail cameras and to see it all come together was a very proud dad moment!
