8-point buck was frequent trail cam visitor
Chase Martin of Sandy Run, SC killed a Calhoun County 8-point buck during an evening hunt on Aug. 22, 2024. It’s a buck he’d been watching for about 8 months through his trail cameras.
Martin shot the buck with a Tikka .300 WinMag while in a ground blind from 175 yards away. The buck fell immediately.
“I’d been watching and feeding this buck since January. But I’d never seen him in the daylight the entire 8 months, until the afternoon of that hunt,” he said.
Time was getting short when the buck showed up, but Martin still had enough light left to get the job done.
“He slipped up right before dusk, and the good Lord blessed me with him. It was such an awesome hunt!” he said.
