Cumberland County buck had been showing up on trail cameras
Brock West of Fayetteville, NC killed this Cumberland County buck on Oct. 21, 2023. The 7-point buck weighed 180 pounds, and had appeared on trail cameras, but was never spotted by the hunter until the day he killed it.
West was hunting from a tree stand in a wooded area when the buck showed up and offered him a clean shot at 25 yards at about 6:40 p.m. One load of buckshot from his 12-gauge dropped the deer in its tracks.
“This was my first deer hunt, and I was in the stand about 2 hours. Friend are saying I should quit now while I’m ahead!” said West.
