Braelyn’s First Buck

The hunt was Apogee Anson’s 2nd annual Heritage Hunt hosted by Four Branches Sporting Preserve in Polkton, NC. Students of Apogee Anson and parents were invited to hunt at the Four Branches Sporting Preserve. It was the morning of December 9th and Braelyn and her dad had a hunt they will never forget. Braelyn killed her first deer, a doe, this year opening day of riffle season. This was Braelyns second time in a deer stand with a riffle in her hand. At 7:30 the 8 point buck appeared and was facing directly towards the deer stand. Braelyn waited for the perfect shot and just as the buck turned broadside it was spooked by a vehicle. The buck ran 15 yards and started walking. Two steps from the woods Braelyn took a 154 yard shot and dropped the deer. The video is great because you can hear her dad say “you got him” and Braelyn replys “Lord have mercy”, with her heart pounding and a big smile on her face. She made the shot with a Savage Arms Axis II youth 6.5 Creedmore. (The entire family had to see the buck. (In the picture from left to right Dru, Braelyn, Kyleigh, Kristin and Hayden)
