Afternoon
I was getting daylight pictures of this deer for last 2 months. He generally would be there in the evenings 3-4 days straight then gone for 3-8 but when he came he was generally staying in the area and getting pictures in the evenings 3 evenings in a row. Didn’t have any pictures opening day or Sunday and then he showed up on camera Monday morning, so I went that evening around 230 and prepared for a long sit. Two other bucks came into corn around 615 and he was about 10 yards behind them standing behind some small limbs when wind changed and I knew it was now or never so I took the shot. The bolt must have deflected slightly off branch and it hit him high above the shoulder and exited just in front of his right ham. I immediately got down and found some decent blood where I shot him and backed out and called one of my friends with a tracking dog. By then it was probably 9 pm. Dog got right on blood trail and we were able to find him around 10 pm
