Morning
I live by a dog hunting club and am a die hard bow hunter. While I don’t dog hunt and don’t allow them on my property, the dogs from the club go wherever they want. Around 9am I was bow hunting from a tree saddle and heard the dogs headed my way. Got my bow ready in the event they were running a buck. As the barking drew closer I heard crashing coming through the woods and saw a decent pair of antlers. The buck was headed right towards me so I drew back. At about 5 yards away he finally went broadside so I stopped him with a “meh” and let one fly. I was immediately heartbroken when I only saw about 12 inches of arrow penetration. With the dogs in hot pursuit of the buck I figured he would die miles away and I would never find him. I got down and started tracking and the blood looked great. Tracked him about 50 yards and there he lie dead. I bow hunt hard down here every season since moving down 4 years ago. This is the first buck I’ve taken with some decent size for the area.
