Just wanted to share this story with my almost 75-year-old 8mm Mauser. I’ve always enjoyed the older firearms especially while deer hunting. As Central NC is not know for massive bucks I’ve learned to enjoy the process and limitations of hunting with traditional archery, black powders, and old rifles. On Nov. 9, 2022, I got in the stand early with a stiff 15 to 20 mph wind. It was a slow morning until 7:15 a.m. when this deer I named “Lefty” 2 years ago came in chasing a doe in my cow pea patch. I was able to make a 130-yard shot with the old 8mm Mauser which knocked him down on the spot. Couldn’t have asked for a better Central Carolina Buck.
