Young anlger’s first fish!
Capt. Jason Burton of Murrells Inlet Fishing Charters, LLC is accustomed to watching anglers of all skill levels catch fish, and for decades, he’s been doing his best to help keep them hooked up on numerous species of fish along South Carolina’s coast. But even he was especially touched when his son Finley caught his first-ever fish all by himself on the first day of 2025. And the young angler’s catch is one that’s known as being more difficult to catch than any other inshore species.
“Finley caught his first-ever fish all by himself today, and of all fish, it was a SHEEPSHEAD!” said Burton. “As many of you know, these fish have earned the nickname ‘convict’ for their sneaky bait-stealing skills, making them notoriously tough to catch.
But Finley didn’t just catch one—he also earned a spot on the leaderboard for the biggest of the year! Sure, it’s January 1st and the board is fresh, but seeing his excitement was absolutely priceless. Here’s to more incredible fishing memories in 2025!”
Congratulations to Finley!
