My son Thomas Ebert rode his bike to go fishing at a Winston-Salem neighborhood pond on Wednesday Nov. 22, 2023. He was planning on catching bluegill and used his 2000 Shimano spinning reel with a very light-duty rod. Only a worm and a hook was used, no weight.
He caught this estimated 5-pound bass while fishing alone, and not having a cell phone yet, he wanted to snag a photo and rang the doorbell to the neighbor’s house. Our neighbor came out and took my son’s photo, turning his fish tale into evidence-based reality! The fish was released to be caught again!
