Youth fishing rodeo is scheduled for Oconee County in mid-May

The S.C. Department of Natural Resources has schedule its annual youth fishing rodeo in Oconee County for May 17.

Interested youths should pre-register for fishing rodeo neaer Tamassee

The popular annual youth fishing rodeo at PiedmontForestryCenter near Tamassee in Oconee County will be held Saturday, May 17, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The free day of fun and fishing is for kids up to age 12. Participants should pre-register at: www.dnr.sc.gov/aquaticed/rodeos or by calling 803-737-8483. Participants should also bring their own fishing equipment and bait.

Prizes will be awarded, and free refreshments will be offered. Adults will not be allowed to fish, only youth. Fishing will take place from 9-11:30 a.m., and refreshments will be available from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

The PiedmontForestryCenter is a former S.C. Forestry Commission forest tree nursery located in the CheoheeValley in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.
