Palmetto Sportsmen Classic begins 31st annual run Friday in Columbia

Predator-hunting seminars will be among the fare for visitors to this weekend's Palmetto Sportsmen Classic in Columbia.

Three-day outdoor show will spread out across state fairgrounds

It’s fairly easy to describe what the Palmetto Sportsmen Classic has to offer when it returns to the state fairgrounds tomorrow. There will be a swampy guy, a crabby guy, some sharpshooters, a few varmints and lizards, some big bucks and hopefully, some big bass.

Well, not exactly, but you get the picture.

When the Palmetto opens its 31st run on March 27 in Columbia, attractions in the three-day show will include Bruce Mitchell of “Swamp People”, Capt. Bill Wichrowski of “Deadliest Catch”, Kip Campbell of “Red Arrow TV”, Marty Fischer of “TNT Outdoor Explosion”, Ron and Amy Shirley from “Lizard Lick Towing” and Joey Mines with “Outdoors with Joey Mines TV”.

Pro Staffers from WeHuntSC.com will hold predator-hunting seminars to help landowners hold down their coyote populations, the World’s Outstanding Whitetails exhibit will be on display, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources will hold deer-scoring sessions, and SCDNR will partner with several organizations to hold the SC Youth Bass Fishing Championship on Saturday on Lake Murray, with the weigh-in on the fairgrounds.

The three-day show will feature more than 300 exhibitors scattered across the state fairgrounds. The show will be open from noon until 8 p.m. on Friday, March 27, then 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 29. Admission is $8 for adults and $7 for senior citizens. Children under 10 are free, as is parking.

South Carolina Sportsman will have a booth in the Moore Building with several show-special subscription offers available.
