Multiple public game lands being closed due to flooding

Due to flooding and dangerous driving conditions, several of North Carolina's public game lands are temporarily closed.

Roads will be monitored, reopened when safe

Several public game lands are being temporarily closed by the NCWRC due to flood waters and unsafe traveling conditions. Eight sites are being closed until further notice.

The NCWRC said they will continue monitoring the roads throughout the week, and will reopen roads as conditions improve.

“Our primary goal is to provide safe access to our game lands,” said Coastal Ecoregion Supervisor Tommy Hughes. “By closing the roads now and allowing them to drain properly, we are also able to protect the roads from becoming impassable due to rutting prior to the muzzleloader and gun seasons.”

Properties being closed are listed below. Any questions can be presented to Jodie Owen of the NCWRC at 919-707-0187.
