Preview of saltwater season will raise some eyebrows
What can North Carolina fishermen expect when they head to the coast this year? The April issue of North Carolina Sportsman provides in-depth information on the health of several species popular with recreational anglers.
It also gets the season started in the Cape Fear area, with features on catching Wahoo in the blue waters out of Southport and redfish in the redfish in the changing waters of the Cape Fear River.
If you’re bass fishermen, follow one of Jordan Lake’s experts around his home waters and learn some of his best spots and techniques, and learn how to take linkers from the crystal clear waters of Badin Lake, an often-overlooked Piedmont fishery. Then head west to try and take a “mountain slam” – a smallmouth bass, a walleye and a trout – in the same day.
In addition, learn what it takes to tag a turkey – from the coast to the mountains – with a discussion on how your tactics may need to change depending on what part of North Carolina you’re hunting.
And take a look at the best whitetail bucks that North Carolina hunters took last year as the big-buck contest at the Dixie Deer Classic crowned its kings.
All in the April issue of North Carolina Sportsman.
