Michael Reinhardt kills velvet 15-point buck in Surry County

Reinhardt shot the buck from 100 yards away

Micheal Reinhardt of Dobson, NC killed a 15-point buck in Surry County, NC on Aug. 22, 2026.

He shot the buck with a Wolf Camo Black Powder .50 caliber during a morning hunt while sitting in an elevated stand from 100 yards away.

Reinhardt summed up the hunt with these words:

“I got in the stand at around 6 a.m. and was sitting there around sunrise. Mosquitoes were eating me alive and I was about to call it quits. Then I looked up and there were 10 bucks in front of me. I had an 8-pointer in my scope. Then I decided to take another look and I saw three monster bucks. I picked the one that looked to have a unique high point rack. Then I took the shot. I thought I missed because he dropped so fast. Dropped him in his tracks with a near perfect shot.”

Reinhardt is now entered in our Bag-A-Buck Contest, and is eligible to win our monthly prize pack, which includes a set of Ultimate Eyes & Ears Combo from ShellShock Pro, a YETI Rambler bottle, and a Carolina Sportsman hat, as well as our Grand Prize, a 2-day hunt for two to Cherokee Run Hunting Lodge in Chesterfield County, SC.
