My name is Bobby Esterly and my hometown is Camp Lejeune NC. I went hunting once or twice with a neighbor as a kid and never bagged a deer myself. Last year I decided to research, get out there and learn. This season of 2020 in Onslow County, I was on my second sit on November 20 around 4:45pm. I had been out there for roughly 45 minutes before a nice 8 point stepped out from behind some thick brush covering an intersection of trails that led from bedding to feed area. As he stepped out I was able to place a good shot to the heart, making him fall no more than 40 feet from where I first saw him. I am beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity to bag this 8 point, being my first buck, and for putting some NC grown deer on my family’s table.
