Expanded methods available for North Carolina goose hunters

For hunters looking to heat up their shotgun barrels, fill up the freezer and contribute to conservation and eradication efforts, the resident Canada goose season arrives on Sept. 1.

In South Carolina, hunters will have 30 days to blast up to 15 geese per day in the fields and waterways all across the state. Hunting hours are the same as the normal waterfowl season, allowing hunting between ½-hour before sunrise until sunset.

For North Carolina hunters, the season and bag limits are the same as South Carolina, but expanded hunting methods are available for the areas west of US 17 during September.. Hunters can hunt geese during the September season an additional 30 minutes after sunset. Additionally, they can use unplugged guns, and electronic calls are permitted.
