“Minnow Bucket Memories” is a book of outdoor nostalgia
Award-winning outdoor writer Terry Madewell has released his first book, “Minnow Bucket Memories,” which is available at Amazon.com.
Madewell has been a long-time contributor to Carolina Sportsman Magazine, as well as numerous other publications. He has more than 1000 articles to his credit, along with thousands of photographs. While most of his work has been “how to, where to” pieces that help hunters and anglers kill more game and catch more fish, he takes a different approach in this book, inviting readers to share in his own growth as an avid outdoorsman.
Sharing memories of his earliest days afield with the people that shaped him into a sportsman, all the way to his thoughts on mentoring the young people in his life as they find their way in the natural world, Madewell allows readers to see his own outdoor journey in a way they can relate to and appreciate. And it just makes them want to keep turning the page to see what’s next. Throughout the book, he sprinkles experiences he’s shared with strangers, friends, and family while fishing, hunting, and working as an outdoor writer.
Some of the stories are funny, some matter-of-fact, and some are merely his own observations of watching others enjoy the outdoors. Some are so nostalgic that you’ll feel like looking through your shed for old fishing artifacts in hopes of bringing back your own memories of people you’ve shared some of your greatest memories afield with. All of them are heartfelt, honest, and offer readers a look at Madewell they’ve never had the opportunity to see in his writings for Carolina Sportsman.
His words have helped many of you in your outdoor pursuits, and this book is the icing on the cake, letting you get to know him on a much more personal level. And that’s an opportunity you don’t want to miss.
“Minnow Bucket Memories” is available in Kindle, paperback and hardcover at Amazon.com. ■
