Kill more ducks with the Decoy Raft

Dogs work well with product that makes duck deployment quick and easy

With waterfowl season quickly approaching, many hunters across the Carolinas will be using a new product on their hunts. The Decoy Raft, a product made by North Carolina’s Southern Flyway Outfitters, first became available to the public early this year, and it’s been a big hit with outfitters all over the U.S. and Canada, and many homegrown hunters are excited to put it to use.

The Decoy Raft makes deploying and retrieving decoys easier than ever, thanks to its design, which allows hunters to leave the decoys clipped into the “raft,” a black mesh material that sinks just below the surface, keeping the floating decoys at the right distance and orientation from each other.

Using this method, dozens of decoys can be deployed – and retrieved – in the time it takes other hunters to toss out just a few false ducks. Once hunters see it, you can almost see them hitting themselves upside the head as if to say “why didn’t I think of that!?”

But what about the dogs? What do they think of swimming amongst the decoys with a big sheet of mesh material underneath, with bungee cords holding the decoys? That’s a valid question, and one that the makers of Decoy Raft do a good job answering with the attached video.

Spoiler alert – the dogs don’t mind the raft at all. You’ll see that in the video.
