Desperately seeking surveys

Woodcocks use their long bills to find worms in wet or damp soils.

Willing Simmons, a biologist who is the small-game coordinator for the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, is looking for hunters who will help with a data on woodcock hunting.

Simmons would like hunters to track and report to him the number of birds they flush each hour, the number of hunters in the hunting party, the number of shots fired and the number of woodcock taken.

Information call be emailed or phoned in to Simmons at simmonsw@dnr.sc.us or 803-734-3898.
