NCWRC holding black bear meetings throughout August

The NCWRC is hosting a series of meetings this month to discuss black bear management, and to get input from the public for future management ideas.

Meetings are open to public

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will hold a series of public meetings in August to update the public on current black bear information and discuss bear management. The meetings will also serve as an open forum to receive public opinions regarding future directions for bear hunting and management across the state.

“Meetings like this have proven invaluable to the Commission,” said Dr. David Cobb, chief of the Commission’s Wildlife Management Division. “It’s important that our constituents have the opportunity to voice their opinions and present ideas in an open forum.”

All meetings will begin at 7 p.m. The locations and dates are:

Tuesday, Aug. 9 at Swain Auditorium, located at 200 E. Church St. in Edenton.

Wednesday, Aug. 10 at Craven Community College (Oringer Auditorium), located at 800 College Court in New Bern.

Thursday, Aug. 11 at Bladen Community College (Auditorium), located at 7418 N.C. 41 W. in Bladenboro.

Monday, Aug. 15 at Southwestern Community College (Balsam Center Auditorium), located at 447 College Dr. in Sylva.

Tuesday, Aug. 16 at Western Piedmont Community College (Moore Hall Leviton Auditorium), located at 1001 Burkemont Ave. in Morganton.

Wednesday, Aug. 17 at Davidson County Community College (Auditorium), located at 297 DCC Road in Thomasville.

Wednesday, Aug. 24 at NCWRC Headquarters (Auditorium), located at 1751 Varsity Dr. in Raleigh.
