VIDEO – 13-point buck caught in Georgia hog trap

A wildlife management company in Georgia found a whitetail buck while checking on a wild hog trap.

Buck was released unharmed

Melinda and Bryan Rooks, who own a wildlife management company in Culloden, Ga., found something they weren’t expecting to see when checking on a hog trap recently. Alive and well, but obviously wanting free, was a 13-point buck.

As the buck snarls, grunts, and pushes the back of the trap, he doesn’t even notice when the gate on the front of the trap is opened. With a little bit of encouragement from Bryan Rooks, the buck finally turned to the open door, but it still took some luck before the deer pops out of the cage and runs off to freedom.

“It was nice being able to let it go,” said the couple, whose company, Central Georgia Wildlife Control, traps hogs and other animals who don’t always get off so easy.

They estimated the deer to be about 3 1/2 years old.
