Widely recognized as top trophy deer show in the country

The 2016 Dixie Deer Classic starts tomorrow, Mar. 4, and will run through Sunday at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. This show has been recognized as the top trophy whitetail deer show in the nation.

Neal James of Call of the Wildman fame will be on the scene, as will RJ and Paul Molinere who star on the History Channel’s show Swamp People. Stars of other hunting television shows will also be there.

A trail cam contest, 3-D archery challenge, kids scavenger hunt, the N.C. State Championship Turkey Calling Contest, black bear scoring, trophy deer scoring, and other seminars and competitions will also highlight the Classic.

The show runs Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $12, and is good for the whole weekend. Kids 12 and under are admitted free, and Friday is half-price admission day for youth 13-18, senior citizens 65 and over, military, and females.

Over $50,000 in hunting gear and other prizes will be given away throughout the weekend. Exhibitors include hunting gear manufacturers, outdoor sporting goods stores, truck accessory dealers, and just about anything else that North Carolina outdoorsmen will want to see.

Make sure to stop by the North Carolina Sportsman Magazine booth, where we will be holding a special on one-year and three-year subscriptions, and will also be selling t-shirts and decals.
