Richland County trophy was late arrival
Madeline Moore of Irmo, S.C. killed an 8-point Richland County trophy buck on Sept. 13, 2022.
Moore was hunting from a stand overlooking a food plot when the deer presented her with a clean shot at about 100 yards. She shot the deer around 8 p.m. But it looked as if the hunt was going to end with nothing to show for it.
“When we were in the stand, it felt like we were about to leave empty-handed until the buck crossed the cornfield and I took the shot,” she said.
She had never laid eyes on the buck before that moment, and she did not have any trail camera photos of it. When she pulled the trigger on her Ruger .300 Mag, the trophy buck dropped in its tracks.
