Deadline for SC lottery turkey hunts is closing in

Apply before March 2

The S.C. Department of Natural Resources is accepting applications for wild turkey lottery hunts on public lands for a few more days. The application window closes March 2 at 5 p.m.

Lottery hunts are planned this spring for Donnelly, Bonneau Ferry, Belfast and Santee Cooper WMAs, as well as the Wateree River Heritage Preserve.

A non-refundable fee of $5 is required of all applicants for the Multi-site Turkey Lottery Hunt. It also requires a $5 fee for the youth applicant on the Youth Multi-site Turkey Hunt.

After the selection process occurs, The SCDNR will send only the primary applicant an email notification of the drawing’s completion.

In addition to the required hunting license, big game permit, and WMA permit, all turkey hunters, including youth, are required to have turkey tags in possession while hunting. You may purchase tags on-line, by phone or at license vendors. Tags will go out by mail beginning in mid-February. Tags will also be available over the counter at SCDNR regional offices starting in late February.
