SC hunters harvested 237 bears during 2025 season

Most were killed on public land

South Carolina hunters harvested a total of 237 bears this past season. Male bears accounted for 123 of those, with female bears totaling 114.

The largest number of bears were killed on public land in the USFS Sumter National Forest in Oconee County (Game Zone 1), with 50, including 27 males and 23 females.

Georgetown County (Game Zone 4) led the way for private land hunters, with a total of 32 bears killed. Male bears accounted for 12 of those, with female bears making up the other 20.
