Boone and Crockett bear wins Dixie Deer Classic award

Black bear officially scored 21 8/16 inches

A black bear killed by Chris Douglas of Sanford, NC won the NC Bear, Best of Show Award, Male Hunter at the 2024 Dixie Deer Classic on March 3, 2024. The bear was officially scored at 21 8/16 inches. This score lands the bear in the Boone and Crockett Club. Douglas killed the black bear in Gates County, NC.

“I wasn’t specifically targeting a trophy bear, but that’s what showed up. I’m thankful for the opportunity and glad everything came together and worked out so well,” he said.

Douglas is a familiar face for North Carolinians. He hosts the television show Carolina ALL OUT, which takes him on all sorts of hunting, fishing, and other outdoor adventures across the Old North State. Click here to check out videos of his adventures.
