“Someone IS going to win this boat!” -CCASC

A Sea Hunt BX 22 bay boat will be given away at the CCA SC's Pee Dee banquet Sept. 7, 2017.

Sea Hunt boat being given away by CCA SC tomorrow night

2017 was the first year that CCA South Carolina held a STAR Tournament. The format has taken place with CCA in several other states over the years, and Sea Hunt, as well as several other sponsors, stepped up in a big way. The South Carolina boat manufacturer donated two boats to be given away for the tournament, which lasted from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

CCA South Carolina members who signed up for the tournament were all hoping to catch one of the approximately 50 tagged redfish that Scott Whitaker and other CCA South Carolina staff released before the start of the event.

No one reported catching one of the tagged redfish, but that doesn’t mean nobody wins a boat. Someone that signed up for the tournament is definitely going to win one of the Sea Hunt boats. Because no tagged fish were reported, everyone who participated in the tournament is in the running. The winner will be picked tomorrow night (Sept. 7) at the Pee Dee Chapter’s Celebrating Conservation Banquet.

According to Whitaker, who serves as CCA South Carolina’s director, this year’s STAR was a big success, and members should look for next year’s to be even bigger and better.

“It was a fantastic way to start a tournament that is planning on being here for a long time. Next year has already gotten steam, and is poised to be even bigger,” he said.

If you’d like to be present for the drawing for all of the good food, fellowship, and auctions that CCA is known for, or to see who wins the Sea Hunt boat, which is valued at over $43,000, the banquet starts at 6 p.m. at Florence-Darlington Technical College. Call Will Herbert for more information at 843-992-2255.
