Two rodeos, two clinics on hand around the Palmetto State next montth
The S.C. Department of Natural Resources has two youth fishing rodeos and three family fishing clinics scheduled around the state for June.
Rodeos are opportunities for youths ages 6 through 15 to fish when accompanied by a non-fishing adult. An Horry County rodeo is scheduled for June 6 from 9 a.m. until noon at Carolina Forest in Horry County, and a Marlboro County rodeo is scheduled for Jun e 6 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Bennettsville.
Preregistration is preferred at www.dnr.sc.gov/aquaticed/rodeos or 803-737-8483, but it will be available on site at both events between 15 to 30 minutes before starting time. Bring your own tackle; bait will be provided at some rodeos.
Family Fishing Clinics are introductory classes for fishing, designed to introduce the basics of fishing to young and old or those who need a refresher. Skills taught will be tying knots, rigging rods and reels and casting, and everyone in attendance will get a chance to fish. Register online at www.dnr.sc.gove/aquaticed/fishing clinic or 803-737-8483.
Clinics are scheduled on June 20 from 1-4 p.m. at Sun City Grand Parents Park in Fort Mill and June 27 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Lexington Wildlife Chapter.
