Events are being held at sites all across the state
With spring doing its best to warm up the outdoors, many sportsmen have fishing on their minds. The SCDNR does too, and is hosting a number of fishing rodeos and family fishing clinics around the state.
During fishing rodeos, all youth anglers must have an adult present with them. The adults are not allowed to fish, but can help the youth anglers bait hooks, tie on lures, etc. Click here to register for a fishing rodeo, or call 803-737-8483. Participants should bring their own fishing gear and bait.
If you’re interested in the whole family – young and old alike – wetting a line together, sign up for one of the Family Fishing Clinics. They are introductory classes, but can serve as good refreshers for those who haven’t fished in a while.
These clinics go over the basics of fishing, including how to tie a fishing knot, how to put line and other terminal tackle onto a rod and reel combo, and the different methods of casting. This is hands on training, on the water, so all participants can try their new skills immediately. There is no charge for the clinics. Click here to register.
