SCDNR holding numerous fishing rodeos across South Carolina

The fishing rodeos are open to kids aged 5 to 15.

Events are open to youth ages 5 to 15

The SCDNR is conducting numerous fishing rodeos over the next couple of months. These rodeos are open to youth anglers aged 5 to 15, and are held in places with plenty of available fishing access.

Most of the rodeos are held at ponds with well-manicured banks that allow participants to fish from shore without a lot of obstructions in the way. These are great events to help get kids involved in fishing with plenty of adult supervision to help with tying knots, identifying fish, casting techniques, and other aspects of fishing.

While limited supplies may be available at some of the rodeos, it’s best for participants to bring their own fishing gear. They also need to preregister by clicking here.

These events are held throughout the state, including seven that are scheduled for this Saturday, May 12. Other dates included May 19, June 2, June 9, and Sept. 22. Other dates may be added so be sure to check the SCDNR’s Fishing Rodeo page throughout the next few months.
