Donald White catches new NC state record white perch

It beats the old record white perch that was caught in 1986

North Carolina angler Donald White caught the Old North State’s new state record white perch on Jan. 7, 2024. White was fishing in Kitty Hawk Bay when he landed the fish, which weighed 2 pounds, 0.8 ounces. His catch broke the previous state record, a 1-pound, 13-ounce fish caught by John Stallings in 1986.

White caught the new record fish using a custom jig, fished with a Shimano Nasci 1000 spinning reel mounted to a Kunnan K15706 rod. He had the fish, which had a fork length of 13.5 inches, weighed at TW’s in Kitty Hawk. The girth measured 11 inches.
