NCWRC offering fishing clinics throughout February

The NCWRC is offering angling-focused workshops for people of all skill levels in February at the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center. Online registration is required for the workshops, which are open on a first-come, first-served basis.

Feb. 1 ­– Beginning Fly-Fishing Clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Open to ages 13 and older. Students 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Feb. 5–7 – Beginning Fly-Tying Workshop from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly. The workshop, which is open to ages 12 and older, will teach students how to complete six fly patterns throughout approximately eight hours of instruction. Students 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Feb. 15 – Intermediate Fly-Fishing Workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Open to ages 13 and older. Students 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Feb. 26 – Pre-Spawn Fishing for Largemouth Bass from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Professional fisherman Jamey Caldwell presents strategies and tactics that could increase your chances of angling success. Open to all ages.

Feb. 27 – Fly-Tying Forum from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Open to ages 10 and older. Students 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Feb. 29 – Becoming and Outdoors-Woman Fly-Fishing Workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Open to women ages 18 and older. This workshop provides an overview of fly-fishing, including casting, landing a fish, knots and equipment setup, in both classroom and outdoor settings. A $20 fee covers instruction, equipment, lunch, drinks and snacks.

Pechmann Center is hosting each event

The John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center is located at 7489 Raeford Road in Fayetteville, across from Lake Rim. NCWRC staff at the Pechmann Center conducts fishing workshops, events and clinics throughout the year. Most programs are free and open to the public.
