Interesting catfish video from Lake Gaston

Chris Robinson posted an interesting catfish video to our Facebook page.

Is this a catfish spawning ritual?

One of the great things about fishing is having the opportunity to see things up close and personal that you’ll never see by sitting on the couch, even if you’re watching the National Geographic Channel.

Facebook user Chris Robinson found himself in an interesting situation earlier this week while on Lake Gaston. He noticed a catfish with its back sticking out of the water. He began filming, and saw that this catfish and another were locked up by the lips.

He said he isn’t sure what exactly was going on in the video, but thought it was interesting. Thanks for sharing with us, Chris!

What do you think? Is this related to spawning, and do you think it’s a mating pair, or two catfish of the same sex?
