How to catch more speckled trout and redfish in the fall

The fall weather is finally here, which in the Carolinas generally means cold mornings followed by pleasant afternoon weather. And it’s a great time to catch speckled trout and redfish. And with any luck, anglers can pick up a flounder or two and complete the inshore slam.

Shane Flannigan of The Reel Deal Charters in Charleston, S.C. has been catching all three species lately, and is especially glad to see lots of small trout, which he said always shows promise for the future.

Flannigan (843-597-0690) likes to fish the outgoing tide this time of year, especially when it happens in the morning hours. He starts off fishing with live shrimp under popping corks along grass lines for specks, then turns his attention to docks with quartered crabs for redfish.
