Beaufort angler catches boat-winning tagged redfish

You want to see this tag on a redfish, but only if you're registered for the CCA STAR.

But the angler was not registered for CCA STAR

Another tagged redfish in the 2020 CCA STAR Tournament presented by Sea Hunt Boat Company was caught late Saturday afternoon, Sept. 26. Hunter Griffith of Beaufort, SC was fishing in the Broad River around Parris Island and caught tag number 86.

Unfortunately for Hunter he put off registering.

“I shook my head when I realized what was happening because I realized that putting off registering for STAR had just cost me a new boat. I never thought it would really happen to me,” said Griffith.

YES! It can happen to you! At anytime! There is still time to win with a week of fishing left! Make sure you are registered today and #fishSTAR this week.

Griffith is not alone. It happened earlier this year to another angler. And every year CCA SC has held its STAR tournament, at least one unregistered angler has caught a tagged fish. Don’t let that be you!

If you’re fishing in South Carolina between now and Oct. 4, sign up, or regret it when you reel in a redfish with that 2020 tag!
