I saw birds diving on baitfish behind the dunes in a shallow bay at the Outer Banks on Oct. 13, 2022. Once closer, big red drum were seen cutting through the school of bait. I sent far cast over the school and slowly pulled a silversting lure underneath them. Within seconds he was on and peeling line off the light spinning reel I was using.
