Chum slingers

A chum slinger helps fishermen toss chunks of croaker or other fish overboard to set up a chum slick.

Croakers make great bait for red drum, and they also make good chum. The Longer Life Bait Slinger was a great tool for tossing chunks of fish far out into the water to attract big red drum.

While it is out of production, you might find one online or make your own out of an oversized kid’s hollow plastic ball bat by cutting off the barrel end. Another version that is still available is the Joy Fish Bait N Chum Bat. Don’t laugh because a chum bat or slinger will save your arm and makes handling chum chunks much cleaner and tosses them farther than an angler’s bare hands.
