Scott Lamprecht with the S.C. Department of Natural Resources said that 2015 is the year when the state legislature reviews the 26-inch size minimum limit and SCDNR reports, along with recommendations from the Santee Cooper Stakeholder Committee.
“The final decision is made by the legislature, but I think the stakeholders are recommending something that will leave the closed season in place with perhaps a slight modification,” Lamprecht said. “Also a slot-limit will likely be considered where anglers can keep fish within a slot to allow more fish to be harvested while retaining much of the benefit of a 26-inch size minimum.
“Most likely any changes, if there are any, would be effective beginning July 1 of this year,” he said.
