The third-annual Appalachian Tenkara Jam is scheduled Oct. 15-16 in Cherokee, with tenkara fishing lessons offered by the Appalachian Tenkara Anglers.
The event will include lessons in fly-casting, classrooms, history, vendors and catered lunches.
“We’ll have more tenkara guides there than anywhere in the country,” said Lance Milks, a guide from Greensboro and tenkara expert. “People can get one-on-one instruction about how to fish with tenkara equipment, then the second day they can fish for trout at the Cherokee Reservation’s streams.”
Cost will be $45 to $50 per anglers. For more information, visit www.appalachiantenkara.com.
