Anson County access improved

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has completed renovations on the Red Hill Boating Access Area on the Pee Dee River. The site, off N.C. 109 just north of Wadesboro, has a new ramp, along with improved parking and ADA accessibility.

“We made major improvements to this popular fishing spot on the Pee Dee, and we think boaters across the state will be pleased,” said Erik Christofferson, chief of the Commission’s Division of Engineering Services. “One of our Division’s goals is to give boaters increased, more convenient access to the waters of North Carolina, and improvements to this site fit right in with that goal. It will be a definite asset to the area.”

Local fisherman can target catfish in the Pee Dee from the tail race below the Lake Tillery Dam down south to Blewett Falls Lake. Each spring the hickory and American shad make their annual migrations through this same area.
