Boating, fishing, hunting expos begin this month

With deer hunting season ending on Jan. 1, and spring weather months away, this is a great time to gear up on new products, to get some outdoor adventures planned and on your calendar, and to polish your skills at seminars and workshops.

And you can do all of that and more throughout the next few months at outdoor expos being held throughout the Carolinas.

The first show of the season is the Bass and Saltwater Fishing Expo at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. Bass fishing seminar presenters include Kevin Van Dam, Tim Horton, and North Carolina’s own Bryan Thrift. They will all be giving demonstrations at the Bass Tub of Oklahoma. This allows spectators to see them in action while they’re offering tips for fishing success.

Next up is the Central Carolina Boat and Fishing Expo in Greensboro, NC. This show, running Feb. 23 – 25, features 16 marine dealers as well as scores of vendors offering a wide variety of outdoors-related products. Attendees will be able to pick up plenty of useful strategies to use over the next 12 months.

The Classics

One week after that show, kick back into deer-hunting mode with the Dixie Deer Classic, March 1 – 3. The lineup of TV personalities that will be presenting includes television host Melissa Bachman, Kip Campbell of Red Arrow TV, and Ralph and Vicki Cianciarulo of Archer’s Choice.

Hailey Hulin is hooked after killing her first buck with a muzzleloader her husband made.

Attendees will bring the biggest bucks from the region to be officially scored, and awards will be presented for a whole host of categories.

And seminars aren’t just for the fishing expos. At the Dixie Deer Classic, you’ll learn from the best in the business about topics ranging from filming your own hunts, trapping coyotes, fish management, and waterfowl management.

Numerous wild animals, such as birds of prey, will be on display, and guests can learn how to carve waterfowl decoys from the Core Sound Decoy Carvers Guild. And too many vendors to list, from a wide range of outdoors-related companies, will be on hand to help you get stocked up on all types of gear, including guns, knives, clothing, and ammunition.

And you’ll get much of the same later that month, when the Palmetto Sportsmen’s Classic takes place at the SC State Fairgrounds in Columbia, SC March 22 – 24.  Fishing, hunting and trapping seminars, as well as deer antler scoring, the Hawg Trough, the SCDNR fishing pond, DockDogs and the Extreme Raptor Show are among the highlights.

As with the previous shows mentioned, tons of vendors will be on hand displaying the latest and greatest hunting, fishing and other outdoors-related gear.

Stop by our booth at any of these shows to renew your subscription or just to talk about the outdoors.
