Event will be held at the Pechmann Fishing Education Center
The John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center is holding their biggest event of the year on June 7. The Fin-Tastic Fishing Festival is open to families with children 15-years-old and younger. The event features more than a dozen hands-on, interactive exhibits and demonstrations.
Officials point out that this festival is a great way to learn more about fishing, and to learn about the important role anglers play in North Carolina’s fishing conservation.
Activities and displays at the event will include:
- Electrofishing performed by WRC fisheries biologists
- Casting contests
- Kayaking
- Lure making
- Boating simulator
- Fly-fishing
- Fly-tying
- Fishing knots
- Rod building demo
- Leave No Trace
- Fishing
- and more!
This will be a catch-and-release only event. Participants may bring their own fishing equipment and natural bait (no minnows allowed). The Pechmann Center has fishing combos to loan to those who need it, and worms will be available.
The event begins at 9 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m. Registration must be completed by June 5 at 11 a.m.
Food trucks will be on site for lunch.
