73-pound catfish was released
Caleb Jackson caught and released a 73-pound catfish on Lake Moultrie in mid-February 2026.
Jackson was anchored down when he caught the big blue. He was using a 2-inch chunk of fresh shad he purchased from Blacks Camp while fishing with a Santee rig, a Drift King rod and a 10/0 circle hook.
“I caught him in 44 feet of water,” said Jackson. “It is my personal best.”
The fish was only in the boat for a minute or so. Jackson weighed the fish, then promptly released it. The fish swam away immediately, no worse for the wear. He captured the entire fight, the catch and the release on his YouTube channel, Action Jackson SC.
