Alligator rams kayaker in Waccamaw River

Alligator tipped the kayaker into the water

North Carolina kayaker Peter Joyce plans to kayak the entire length of the Waccamaw River in sections. But an aggressive alligator spoiled his attempt at completing one section last weekend. The gator rammed into Joyce’s kayak and tipped it over on its side.

Luckily, a downed tree helped Joyce right himself. He then recovered his paddle from the water and hightailed it out of the area. He captured the ordeal on an action camera that was strapped to his chest.

Joyce said he will come back to paddle this section in the winter time, when he expects gators like this one to be dormant.
