Stone takes third in FLW

Chris Brown and Robert Voyles of Lexington finished second and took big-fish honors in the Feb. 25 High Rock Team Tournament.

Fayetteville angler cashes $30,000 check

Fayetteville’s Marty Stone finished third at the March 8-11 FLW Tour event on South Carolina’s Lake Hartwell. Stone’s haul of 68 pounds, five ounces, was worth $30,000.

Matt Arey of Shelby finished 23rd with 29-2 and won $11,500. Dave Wolak of Wake Forest was 58th with 23-11, and Bryan Thrift of Shelby finished 65th with 22-4. Those two anglers earned $4,000 each.

Six fishermen from North Carolina finished in the money in the co-angler division. David Kuykendall of Fletcher was second with 35-12, banking $7,500. Others were: Steve Redmond of Waynesville, 18th with 21-8 for $1,400; Gary Abernathy of Skyland, 27th with 19-0 for $1,200; Bryan New of Belmont, 34th with 17-9 for $1,100; Mike McDonald of Randleman, 36th with 17-4 for $1,100; and Justin Jones of Apex, 58th with 14-0 for $700.
