Savannah Saltwater Classic Rescheduled to Sept. 26 and 27

The Savannah Saltwater Classic has been rescheduled for September 26 and 27.

The Savannah Saltwater Classic, which was originally scheduled for August 22 and 23, was postponed due to winds and seas from Hurricane / Tropical Storm Fay and has been rescheduled for September 26 and 27.

The Savannah Saltwater Classic is produced by Bluewater Promotions of St. Marys, Ga. and they have a policy of not holding tournaments when a small craft advisory is posted.  With the forecast of the original weekend, Bluewater Promotions Tournament Director Terry Adkins moved the safety of the participants to the forefront and postponed the tournament until the final weekend in September.

All other parts of the tournament will remain as originally scheduled, just on the new weekend.  The captains meeting and final registration will be on Friday, with Saturday as the fishing day.  If weather becomes a factor again, the initial postponement will be one day, with fishing on Sunday.  Complete details can be found at www.bluewaterpromo.com or by calling 1-800-KING MAC.

The Bluewater Promotions Saltwater Classics feature king mackerel as the primary species, but also offer prizes for dolphin, wahoo, cobia and Spanish mackerel.  Lady anglers, senior anglers and junior anglers will also be recognized with special prizes.

The Final Registration and meal will begin at 5:00 P.M. at 600 E. Bay Street.  Registration will remain open until 6:59 P.M. and will be immediately followed by the Captains Meeting, with door prize and grand prize drawings.  The grand prize is a fully equipped 34 foot Yellowfin Center Console, with triple Mercury Verado 300 HP outboards and on an AmeriTrail Trailer.

Fishing begins at 6:30 A.M. on Saturday and boats with fish to weigh must be checked in by 5:00 P.M.  There is no check-out, but boats must fish with boundaries of 100 miles north and south.  The boundaries are 33.44.00N (approximately 12 miles north of Murrells Inlet, S.C.) and 30.20.00N (approximately 4 miles south of St. Johns Inlet, Fla.)

The tournament weigh-in will be located at Rousakis Plaza on River Street in Savannah.  The scales will open at 3:00 P.M.
